Prairie’s Edge Casino

Prairies Edge Casino Unilux

A 30-acre parcel of land located on a bluff over looking the Minnesota River Valley, five miles south of Granite Falls, MN is the location of the Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort. Wholly owned by the Upper Sioux Community, the $21 million dollar complex opened its doors on March 11, 2003 with comfort provided by the winning pair of Blesi-Evans Company, Minneapolis, MN and Unilux.

Construction began on the 129,000 square foot complex in October of 2001, on a fast-track schedule, with work starting before the final design was complete. Construction continued through the winter and summer conditions for a total of 17 months. And even though another boiler was specified for this project originally, the owner and engineer selected Unilux based on efficiency, lead-time, cost and the fine technical selling skills of Chuck Keith of Blesi- Evans. The engineer for the project was LKPB of St. Paul, MN; the contractor Allied Mechanical of Hutchinson, MN. The project was designed by Water’s Edge Architectural Group of Wilmar, MN and interior decor was provided by Thalden Boyd Architects of St Louis, MO.

The four story resort includes an 89 room hotel, 17,000 square foot convention center and 20,000 square foot casino gaming floor, two restaurants, lounge, swimming and wading pools, a fitness center and Kids World child care center – all under one roof. All of these facilities are serviced by (2) ZF 1000 W and (1) ZF 200 LS Unilux Boilers fired by Power Flame burners.

Since delivery was a very important aspect of this fast-track project, Unilux saw to it that the boilers arrived on site ahead of schedule. After a very smooth start-up, the contractor was happy to report that actual operating efficiencies for the boilers are much higher than expected.
